Subscriptions and payments

Learn how subscriptions differ from one-time credit purchases, how payments work, and how to check that your purchase is complete.

What is the difference between a subscription and buying credits separately?

Subscriptions are designed for ongoing use. You pay monthly or annually, receive plan credits each month, and your subscription renews automatically.

One-time credit purchases let you add credits when needed. Buying through Add credits does not subscribe you to a plan, upgrade your plan, or turn on auto top-up.

Choose a purchase amount or enter a custom amount within the limits shown, then check the credits you will receive before paying. No subscription is required. If you already have one, the purchase does not change your plan or renewal date.

For credit expiry rules, see the Credits and usage FAQ.

How do I choose and buy a plan?

Open Pricing to compare the monthly credits and prices for Starter, Plus, and Pro. Choose monthly or annual billing, then sign in and complete your purchase.

The monthly equivalent shown for annual plans is not the amount charged at checkout. Annual plans are charged for the full year upfront, but credits are issued monthly rather than all at once. Before paying, check the plan, billing cycle, and total amount due.

How does auto top-up charge me?

With Auto top-up enabled, when spending takes your balance below the configured threshold, your saved payment method is charged for the configured top-up amount. Each top-up is an additional payment, separate from your subscription renewal.

Auto top-up is not a spending limit and does not guarantee that a running task will avoid interruption due to insufficient credits.

You can turn it off in Billing. No new auto top-up charges will be initiated after it is turned off, but a payment already in progress may still complete.

How am I charged, and what credits do I receive, when I upgrade?

Upgrading to a higher-tier plan charges the full price of the new plan for your selected billing cycle: one month for monthly billing or one year for annual billing. Payments already made for the old plan do not offset the new charge. The upgrade is not priced as a prorated difference based on time remaining on the old plan.

Once the upgrade is complete:

  • Your new plan takes effect and you receive its full monthly credit allowance. Annual plans continue to receive credits monthly after that.
  • A new billing period begins, and the old subscription no longer renews.
  • Unused credits already issued under the old plan remain available until their original expiry dates. Upgrading does not extend those dates.

If your old plan was annual, credits for its remaining months that have not yet been issued will no longer be issued. Check the full cost of the new plan before paying. If you only need extra credits temporarily, you can buy credits separately and keep your existing plan.

When does a downgrade or a change between monthly and annual billing take effect?

Downgrading to a lower-tier plan, or switching between monthly and annual billing without changing your tier, takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period. You keep your current plan until then. Submitting the change does not immediately charge you or add credits.

For example, switching an annual plan to monthly billing at the same tier takes effect after the current annual billing period ends.

Which payment methods and currency are supported?

Payments are completed through Stripe’s checkout page. Card payments are supported; the methods available for your purchase are shown at checkout. OpenAgent plans and credit purchases are priced in US dollars (USD).

I have paid. Why have my credits or plan not updated?

Your credits or plan may still be updating after payment. If the page shows that processing is in progress, wait for the status to update and check your balance and history in Billing. Do not immediately pay again.

If the status does not update, contact support@OpenAgent.org with your account email, payment time, and proof of payment so we can investigate.

What should I do if my payment fails?

Check the message on the payment page, verify your card details, and complete any verification requested by your bank. If the payment is declined, try another payment method or ask your card issuer why it was declined.

If your bank already shows a charge, check the payment status and credit history in OpenAgent before paying again.

How do I cancel my subscription?

To request cancellation, contact support@OpenAgent.org and include your OpenAgent account email and current plan so we can review and process your request.
